About the Job
Job Summary:
The Food Runner is responsible for quickly and accurately delivering orders from the kitchen to customers at the restaurant.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Delivers food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables rapidly and accurately.
- No Auctioning off food, use seat position to serve food to our patrons
- Acts as the contact point between Front and Back of the House staff.
- Communicates food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g., food allergies).
- Assists the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins.
- Serves welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres, upon guests’ arrival.
- Ensures food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g., proper temperature).
- Checks in with guests and take additional orders or refill water, as needed.
- Removes dirty dishes and utensils.
- Answers guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items.
- Inform restaurant staff about guests’ feedback or requests (e.g., when they ask for the check).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to listen and follow directions.
- Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately.
- Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
- Ability to operate point-of-sale system.
Education & Experience:
- Must be at least sixteen years old (at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages).
- Previous experience as a food expeditor or runner preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
