Job Summary:

The Food Runner is responsible for quickly and accurately delivering orders from the kitchen to customers at the restaurant.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Delivers food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables rapidly and accurately.
No Auctioning off food, use seat position to serve food to our patrons
Acts as the contact point between Front and Back of the House staff.
Communicates food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g., food allergies).
Assists the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins.
Serves welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres, upon guests’ arrival.
Ensures food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g., proper temperature).
Checks in with guests and take additional orders or refill water, as needed.
Removes dirty dishes and utensils.
Answers guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items.
Inform restaurant staff about guests’ feedback or requests (e.g., when they ask for the check).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to listen and follow directions.
Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately.
Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
Ability to operate point-of-sale system.

Education & Experience:

Must be at least sixteen years old (at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages).
Previous experience as a food expeditor or runner preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work nights and weekends.
